That sounds great! Is there a scheduled launch date for those?

The scores so far:

9 x wide 7
7 x wide 9
5 x wide 1
4 x wide 6
4 x wide 3
4 x standard 7
3 x wide 8
3 x standard 10
3 x standard 9
3 x standard 5
2 x wide 10
2 x wide 5
2 x wide 2
2 x standard 11
2 x standard 3
2 x standard 1
1 x wide 4
1 x standard 13
1 x standard 12
1 x standard 6
1 x standard 2

This doesn't take into account order of preference.

Need some of those (non-rigged) voting machines ...

Wide 7, 9, 1, 10, and 5 in no particular order are all quite nice

Cheers!

I wonder if some sort of preferential voting system would be better than a straight poll (which would presumably permit only one choice and, either way, no order of preference).

We'll get something set up next week, and once we have the result, we can order the cloth.

You can create a google form, with three questions (First choice, Second choice, Third choice) each question being a dropdown type where you put the list of fabrics. Once you have set up the first question you can just duplicate it and change the name for the two other one. You get the result as a google sheet, easy to deal with to sort the results.

Thanks for that tip. Very helpful.

If it helps anyone visualise the balmacaan made longer — 43" to be precise — and with a belt, then why ... here's a mockup of exactly that, made in calico!

The belt, as you can see, is an impromptu addition, made with a strip of binding.

Out of curiosity about pattern making in general, did you shift the pockets, buttons, and inverted pleat when lengthening? Or is it just a matter of adding more material to what was previously the bottom?

A bit of both!

The pockets don't need to move, as they're in the right position for hand-plunging irrespective of the length of the coat. Likewise the buttons at the front: we might need to add one more if the coat swings open too much at the front, but we'll see after a sample is made and road-tested. And the pleat at back is the same, too, but, with additional length commensurate with the coat as a whole, there's now a tab halfway down to keep it in check (the tab is the same shape as the cuff and collar tabs: consistency!).

The body fans out very slightly more, too, as it runs to the hem, rather than being the same body but x inches longer.
