Same rope and same toggles, too.

However, we are making a few changes. We have changed the construction a little so it is heavier and more firm and robust.

We have also backtracked on the two-way pockets which we introduced last year (they'll be standard top-down patches again) and generally given the whole coat a once-over.

I think all the time in lockdown, staring at the same rail of coats every day, led to some developments and refinements which might've undertaken otherwise.

We're actually making much less (in variety and quantity) than we would normally, because we did the planning for the season back in March and April, when the general outlook for the year was particularly grim.

Thus normally we'd have at least one new coat on top of what we have planned, and a couple more jackets.

Here are a few photographs of the peacoat in uniform melton in light grey, which will hopefully appear on the site (with buttons) next week.

The dark navy is the mainstay for the peacoat, of course, but this is the second year running when I think the alternative colour (last year's being the tobacco brown) catches my eye more than the main.

Yep — it's very similar cloth, but lighter in colour (the photographs were taken under the factory lights, which are a great equaliser in that they make everything look rather flat and tired).

It's also thicker. Thicker than the coat in dark navy, a bit, too.

Not easily, no.

The only option is to shorten from the cuff, but the construction is quite elaborate down there, so the alterer would need to take it off, cut back the cuff, then sew it back on again.

I do know customers who have had it done, so it is far from impossible. But best done only if you have a tailor you know and trust.

I can attest to what Paul said. You want to have a good and trusted tailor to do it for you. Mine did a great job but I only let him do it since he has been my tailor for 3 years and his works satisfied me every time.
