Hey, I’m hoping to purchase this shirt. Can you share what size you chose and what’s your own chest size? Please, this will be super helpful
I'm a 38 and wearing a medium here. I used to go with a small in SEH but found the medium to feel better all around.

Hi Paul,

Any new trousers in the works?

Cheers...

Yep — we're making a new bunch of work trousers in cotton duck right now. We've given the work trousers a slightly wider leg.

And then the dress trousers will return in tropical worsted in lead grey and mid-brown, probably in March. We've tweaked these a little, too, just here and there, to improve the fit and tidy them up as much as possible.

Here's the new safari jacket, in cotton cavalry twill.

It's one we've been working on on and off for a year or two. It has a cape shoulder, and then much of the design feeds into that, with the chest pockets built into it at the front, and the fairly elaborate design at the back of the jacket playing into it as well.

It actually reminds me most of the trench. Like the trench, but shorter, and a jacket ... and single-breasted. As well as the cape shoulder, which lends the jacket a relaxed silhouette and in itself makes the jacket wholly unlike any safari jacket that has gone before, there are a great number of pleats (two at the front, three or four at the back) and the main pockets are very slightly bellows. The belt has the same adjustment mechanism as the trench, and there's a short gusset in the sleeves, above the cuffs, for that satisfying folding-in effect when the cuffs are fastened.

What sort of rain-resistant overcoats are we going to see in the next year Paul? Duster, rain coat, trench? I am deeply tempted by the safari jacket but think an earth-tone rain coat is more pressing.

NEXT year?

Or this year?

What with this year still being so young.

We hope to revisit the raincoat within the next six months, and the trench will continue to be a style which we continue to keep in stock (more or less) most of the time, with production of sizes S and M and L in work now.

The duster and parka will both probably return next year (actual next year) as well as the fishing jacket. I haven't really thought much further ahead nor more in depth than that. It's been all "heavy woollen coats and short cotton jackets" of late rather than the (admittedly all-important) raincoat category.

Have the raincoats in petrol in medium been re-stocked? Or has a wayward raincoat just found its way back to the fold?

The latter!

Occasionally we do a little stocktake and pull a rabbit (raincoat) from the hat (far back corner of the workshop where there is neither light nor space).

Given the sizing advice and the measurements found on the safari jacket’s page, is it safe to think it can be worn over a sportscoat, rather than as a replacement for one?

It isn't intended to be worn as an overcoat, but if you sized up it would certainly fit over a suit jacket, yes.
