Do we have an ETA on the ulsters? the temperature is dipping and I am starting to think fondly about tweed

Within the next two weeks they will be online.

We hit a little self-inflicted stumbling block (premeditated course-correction) on Monday which slowed progress down, but we're now back on track.

British Warms, all being well, same time, if not prior.

Hi Paul, any chance of a restock on the XL Herdwick tweed Peacoats?

Afraid not, sorry, no — we very seldom make more of the same item (apart from the peacoat in dark navy, likewise the duffle, and the trench in ripstop: a handful of styles that seem to have established themselves over the years).

Is that the case for your trousers as well? Saw some I love but aren't available in my size anymore :(

That's right, yes. I am sure we have released trousers in black cord have a dozen times over the years, as we have a certain style that we like and towards which we naturally gravitate ... but never the same style twice. We keep trying to push our work forward and make improvements, based on existing work, fresh ideas, feedback from customers, etc.

Here's the British Warm — our first double-breasted overcoat in the tailored tradition in quite a long time!

Many thanks!

Traditional British Warm overcoats tend to have epaulettes, so we designed the shoulder / armhole region with that in mind — an echo of epaulettes, sort of.

Oh good lord, how is one supposed to choose between that and the Ulster?!

I'd say the British warm is smarter and better in autumn and early winter, whereas the Ulster is chunkier, has a much larger collar, and is therefore a fully fledged winter overcoat.

Another way of looking at it is — the British warm is, despite its length, understated and restrained, whereas the Ulster, relatively speaking, is textural razzmatazza-skedaddleplex.

I think your copy for your clothes should always include some textural onomatopoeia.

Regarding the Ulster, can you tell me the distance between the collar and the half-belt for the XS? I realize this may be picking some nits, but after realizing the positioning of the belt/pockets on the trench is too low for the coat to really work for someone of my height (as the belt ends up resting against the top of my rear end rather than the small of my back/natural waist), I want to ensure the proportions of the coat are satisfactory.

Sure!

It is 14 inches / 36cm from top of body to mid-point of belt (which is 7cm tall).
