Hi Paul, just curious are there any pictures of the fabrics being used for the ulster?

It is Donegal tweed — the colours very similar to those used for the balmacaan over the past few years.

The navy colour is quite a lot darker than above, however. Both the blue and the grey in the weave are a few shades darker this time around, and as a result, the off-white and grey nepps and burrs "pop" more, so it is for sure the most striking of the two.

I’ve just taken delivery of one of these and have to say that, whilst it looks great in pictures, it has to be seen and felt in real life to fully appreciate it.

I have the sanderling but if the blue was available in my size I’d pick that up as well.

If you’re hesitating before purchasing then I’d say don’t risk on losing out.

I wear these shirts an absolute ton: they have superseded my usual go-to this time of year (all the way from now until April) which are the merino-cotton blend from Donegal of the worsted Bedford cord from Somerset from a few years back. Cosy, warm, breathable, and can take a pummeling without looking like it has aged much if at all.

In fact, the merino-cotton is used for a few shirts with granddad collars at https://sehkelly.com/shirts. It's not as exciting visually as the sanderling cloth, but it is no less pleasurable to wear — albeit slightly thicker and slightly woollier, so geared a little more towards winter. But still a joy to wear many, many months of the year.
