Hello, I am in the market for a jacket to wear in the rain--not a drizzle or short burst, but a steady and drenching hour-long affair out and about. I happened upon the Parka Major (which did not populate when I clicked "shop" but only became visible when clicking to see what is available in medium). Do you think that fits the bill, or should I wait (impatiently, but resolutely) for a future offering in the weatherproof ripstop? Thank you for the advice!

Thanks for your interest!

Of the coats and jackets designed to keep off the rain, the parka is the most tough and heavy. It is also the largest. The cloth is very thick, is water repellent, and since much of the parka has a double-layered construction (such as the entirety of the front, and the hood) it will keep rain out for a long, long time.

Other options are the raincoat (just as long but lighter in weight, and no hood) and the fishing jacket (much shorter and lighter but no less water-resistant).

There's the anorak, too, but I believe we have only size XL in stock in that one.

Finally, the trench, which I don't readily associate in this category, but being long, double-breasted, and made from the weatherproof ripstop, is fantastic in the rain. No hood, though, of course.

We have no plans to make any other rainproof coats in the near future, and I doubt a ripstop version of the parka will come along within at least the next year (the thought hasn't crossed my mind for a long time).

The trench design is brilliant. The excision of belt loops is wunderbar and the drape, sans belt, is perfect.

Hmm. Budgets are annoying.

It's just about now our longest coat, which we felt necessary as a counterweight to the new shawl collar. A whopper, truly!

Waiting for mine with bated breath. Also, winter come quick, please.
Paul's photos are much better, but in case anyone wants to see more pictures of the Balmacaan. It's an amazing coat and the fabric is :chefs kiss:. However, it is heatstroke inducing - especially in 83F/28C temperatures.

Do you have a rough idea of which coats/jackets you're planning for the rest of the year?

Here are those shirts about which I've been waxing with somewhat earnest and involuntary zeal the past few weeks ...

"The cloth — from which incidentally today's new shirts are made — unites the original Four Horsemen of the Textilocalypse. Cotton long of staple and fine of micron accounts for half of its composition — offering a softness and wearability that says "wear me all day if you want, my friend." Silk and linen impart the slubs and nobbles and loom chatter running this way and that, as well as a light airiness when worn, while good old Mr. Wool chips in with miniature constellations of the likes of navy and chalk, which seem to have wandered into the weave from an entirely different cloth — intriguing and invigorating even the most indifferent eyeball." — what someone on Instagram wrote about it.

When might the trucker jackets be available? And which fabrics for the next batch? Thanks!

Are the work jackets ever going to return in heavy corduroy? While I find the trucker interesting, the pleats on the front don’t really do it for me. But the work jacket is imo a stone cold classic and I really lament the fact that I did not have the funds when I had the opportunity to get it in cord
