Two items, if they don't trouble folks.

If anyone is selling a field coat in navy size L or XL, kindly drop me a note.

Second, Paul, is the greenish-brown hunting jacket sample (a) for sale and (b) if so, a size large? I see the production runs are live.

Thanks very much for your interest, but it's a size S, and we like to keep hold of samples for future reference / chopping up to try out new ideas.

Paul, passing thought, any chance you'd be interested in doing a blousy/loose jacket in linen or some other more breathable for those of us in hotter climates?

We have in the past, with styles like work jackets or SB jackets in linen, or very lightweight cotton, but the strengths of the mills of the British Isles (with whom we solely work) are by and large heavier, tougher materials.

And so we play, increasingly, to those strengths.

It informs our whole mentality, from the conception of idea onwards. It's nice to think about blousons and lightweight, looser styles, but they'll never be our forte, and it's tough to find a decent variety of summery materials with which to match them.

Personally, in warm weather, I just wear ... less. Just a shirt: an overshirt at most. It limits me storage-wise, but I've never been one to layer up much in spring and summer. That's just me, for better or worse, but it I guess it also inevitably informs our approach to lightweight jackets. But the main obstacle is paucity of cloth which is both extremely interesting and made in the British Isles.

We never give up on it, though! We'll revisit the engineer jacket one day, and perhaps try another workwear-style or tailored jacket in linen. Plus revive the field shirt and mayen the pyjama jacket in a lighter material than current. But nothing any time soon, sorry to say.

Fair enough, just thought I'd ask. Would have simplified my buying options somewhat but I'd be lying if I didn't hope you'd say exactly what you just did. That you'd keep the focus on British stylings using, as you said, heavier and tougher materials.

Half the fun is in the search anyhow.

Cheers.

It is also true that we generally mine the sartorial history in this country, which not coincidentally also tends to be heavy, hard-wearing, bad-weatherproof attire!

In that case you don't have nearly enough tunics!

Please don't make tunics. Okay maybe one.

Real McCoys made a replica of an old Boy Scout jacket that I thought was neat: https://therealmccoys.com/products/boy-scout-tropical-jacket

Not a fan of the belt nor urea buttons so thought about making one for myself. Then I realized I was basically drawing an M65 but in a khaki coloring.

I might still do it if I can find a panama linen or something.

Move over “that looks a bit ‘80s”…

the safari jacket looks a tad 1880s (looks like what I imagine Livingstone or Shackleton wearing)…

and the tunic example is giving more 1380s…

Double post, hopefully kosher.

Paul, any thoughts on the great coat in brown? Something redder, closer to rust? Herringbone?

More yellow brown, too close to British warm?

Also, any comparison of the topcoat with the shopcoat? Based off description, I'm picturing something darker sans bucket pockets and as well as no overlapped lapel detail.

I like loose outer jackets with big pockets :)

The tunic I was only half joking. I've seen some African, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian tunics that looked real tempting in the sun here. Not quite the style of the area but I'd be lying if I didn't keep some large and flowy shirts for puttering around the house in July and August.

Nice!

There is also the BEF dress tunic which is both belted four-pocket jacket *and* "tunic".

I love all that stuff.

I see a lot of long flowing airy shalwar kameez in the areas not far from the workshop and they look (and must feel) great in warm weather.

So long as the cloth isn't *too* WW1 serge wool then I am all for any colours of greatcoat provided it is sufficiently thick.

British Warm is a lovely colour but I'm more a camel man myself (one hump or two).

I suppose the shopcoat is work jacket x topcoat. The topcoat will be more formal, and longer, and have a more tailored shape and construction.
