Bro, a running specialty store is not going to be very much more expensive than footlocker, and the employess will actually know WTF they are talking about. Most running stores do not charge to evaluate and help you decide on the right pair, and they will have some of the same Nikes that you see at footlocker, except that they will be better able to tell you which ones are best for you.

If you run with the wrong shoes, you will be more open to the possibility of stress fractures and injury. I think it's well worthwhile to hit up a specialty shop if you are for real about running.

I can attest to the running store expertise advice. I actually began enjoying running when I had a pair of shoes that stopped making my shins hurt. Cost me about $90 for a nice pair of Brooks running shoes but they're fantastic.

I ran track in college and have recently got back into running. Like others have said, go to a specialty running store. They will watch you run and will be able to make solid recommendations. I am currently running in asics ns (or maybe its n5) trainers.

This is a style forum. Frankly, unless you're looking for opinions on how well your running shoes complement your PBJs, you're asking this question in the wrong place.

As many have said, go to a running store (not a generic shoestore or a giant chain) where specialists can tell you what shoes are appropriate for someone with your specific characteristics (including height, weight, and body mechanics).

Note that this is primarily a question of safety--wearing the wrong kind of shoes can easily lead to injury.

You may be able to duplicate some of the help a running store gives you by doing some research on the web. Are you skinny, average, beefy? If you're bigger you probably need a shoe with more cushioning. If you're a weird size you may have to accept what you can find. I wear size 14 adidas and have been going to a local adidas outlet store for years, I usually get 2 pairs for $60-80 each visit. Replacing running shoes often is as important as finding the perfect shoe.

Serious runner? Go to a nearby running specialty store like Road Runner Sports.

My favorites brands include Asics, New Balance, Nike, and Saucony. I run in Nike Air Max 180+'s.

I believe there was a similar thread in Body Consciousness.

Like others have said, go to a running store.

I personally like my Mizuno Wave Riders.
