I have gotten the paperwork to do it twice but wasn't able to because my flight was delayed and I didn't have the time.

Ive had it done from Naples, London and Rome. You need to continually remind them to do it.

How does Rubinacci make VAT refund?
Do they give you a standard check for refund, where you need to fill in your details that should be stamped by the customs at the airport and afterwards receive refund at the airport or via CC? Or how they refund it?

Both, last time it was cash at the airport. The time before was deducted then shipped. What tailor are you using in Naples Banis?

Yea they told me they would ship me the item before his next visit and pay the duties, and take the vat refund themselves to cover that cost

NSM, Tofani (he is in Spanish Quarter) and two other tailors during current visit. Will post pictures some time later.

As a separate question to Rubinacci clients - do they indicate real value of orders when shipping?

Banis--when are you going to be in Naples? I'll be there next week.

Also--recommend any shirtmakers?

I just arrived this morning. Was there since Wednesday-Thursday night last week.

I have only shirts from Francesco Merolla and Finamore MTM. Merolla's are nice, although the collar that I chose appeared different from the one that I thought I ordered. He charges 250 for Riva fabrics. Merolla makes a trial shirt from some basic cloth and afterwards finishes on the selected cloth.

There are speculations that Gabriella de L'Ero (she worked together with Merolla quite a long time) is much better than Merolla, but I have not ordered from her. She is located at Satriano 5, at the corner of the Marinella shop.

I have ordered this time from a shirtmaker that is located at the same building where Gianni Volpe has his sartoria. She charges 70 EUR for CMT of hand-finished shirt and makes trial shirt also. She should finish my shirts by Thursday-Friday and will send them to me later. So, I can't say anything about her yet.

If you are willing to do a CMT, a couple stores on via Chiaia and on via Toledo (Buonanno, if I'm not mistaken) give discounts on cotton/linen and linen Riva fabrics. 3m will cost 90 instead of regular 135-165 EUR. This offer will last until June.

Oh, and if you have time during your stay, I would recommend going to Palinuro for sightseeing. It is really a beautiful place.

Interesting - would be curious to learn how this turns out.
