I used to mail in my Allen Edmonds at least once a year for a recraft - however since I began having the rubber sole covers put on my leather soled shoes before I wear them, I find the soles seem to last indefinately.

I know it's not sexy - but it works. Does anyone else do this on fine quality men's shoes?

I Just took in my new Gucci's to have them strapped with the same for the summer season.

yes. do a search for 'Topy' on the forum - you'll find a few threads about it.

there is a bit of controversy about whether it does damage to the shoe (by sealing in moisture, or changing the way the sole flexes, or something).

but i like them. glad i happen to have them on, today, as it's rainy and the sidewalks are wet.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
