From my experience: if in doubt, go bigger. Always! More comfort and less creases always flatter the wearer.

Jeans are from BRUT clothing, very high rise (33cm front rise for 40cm waist). I tapered a leg a bit, mostly hips and thigh.
Can we talk about this RISE?! Wow haven't seen a high rise like that in a while, love it! Been on the lookout for something like that as well but have been relegated to old levis for their lower cost (although good examples are getting closer to 100$ USD nowadays)

Can I ask how you like the quality and what you compare it to?

There are several brands offering high rise jeans, but the best ones (made from Japanese denim) are quite costly; 300€ and upwards.
There are also some brands that offer true high rise that are medium priced (still expensive for "a pair of jeans"); Suitsupply, Grand Le Mar, Brut...

These ones (Brut) have the highest rise (front rise is 33cm compared to Suitsupply at 31cm), the denim is thicker than SuSU or GLM or even Levi's.
They are not cheap, but relatively fairly priced.

I also have a pair of Levi's 501 1954 which are great for me, front rise is 29cm so they are mid-high rise, maybe a bit more versatile that true high rise jeans.

Any of those are great with loafers/slippers and sport jacket.

Hope this helped.

I hadn't heard of suit supply denim or grand le Mar! I have some anglo italian, black horse lane, and brycelands but all are more around 30cm (on a size 34 or 36). Truly surprised the brut is so high though.

The downfall for me is the appearance of the denim in most of the more affordable alternatives out there. I'm no expert but they have a "smoothness" in the grain to my eye when looking at the "washed" versions. I don't wear much dark wash / raw indigo jeans anymore as I've become super casual.

However, some really nice "organic" looking fades have come out of 90s made in usa Levi's, you just gotta know your measurements, hope the pictures are color accurate, and trial and error. At the end of the day I've only ever seen 13" (~33cm) rise on one pair and it was just luck it seems. Most are 12" (~30cm) and if you're lucky 12.5" (31.75cm).

Anyone have experience with the standard knits across various years and can comment on sleeve length, was it changed at some point?

Below are two V necks, both brand new and unworn, so there is no natural stretch at play here.

The Fawn (lower) is from 2022 and the brown is current collection. The body width and length match perfectly, it is just the sleeve length that appears to have changed.

I’m interested in the lambswool crewneck. Are these true to size? I’m 5’11” and 41” chest and usually go L.

On colors, any recommendations between natural, fawn and gravel? I want something in that vein but not sure which way to go.

Both M and L would fit you but in a different way. I would try both if I were you. It depends on what you are looking for. I think I posted photos of myself wearing L and M and the fit is just different but can work for both.

As for the color, difficult to say like this. You can't really go wrong with any, especially Fawn and Natural. But what do you intend on pairing it with the most?

Ok thanks. It looks like returns cost $20 or so so could try both sizes and see what works better.

I’d probably wear mostly with denim but possibly also with chinos and mid grey flannel trousers. I just got a suede chore coat that could go over. Yeah just want a versatile color that’s a good staple.

I have the V neck in fawn and it works really well with denims and mid-grey flannel trousers. Natural might lack a bit of contrasts with them.

Guys, any idea when Rubato usually start restocking the Nonpareil lightweight cotton sweaters?

I find them absolutely phenomenal (and prefer them to the wool/cashmere alternatives) for weather between 0C and 20C, and would like to buy a couple more for upcoming trips.

If you look back at their instagram feed from last year, they didn’t release until early / mid April.

On a related note, someone else asked about sales. I bought some stuff on sale in a prior year and that was in mid-Feb, so I bet that’s not too far away now.

Anyone here own a lambswool sportshirt from William Crabtree and a standard sportsman from Rubato? Was looking at this and it is almost identical to the sportsman in shale from Rubato sans grosgrain backing and raglan sleeves:

Wondering how they compare in fit especially.

Bump for this. Has anyone bought a standard knit (crew/v neck) in Size M recently and able to grab some sleeve measurements?

I’ve got both pairs, and they’re cotton. Think of them like mid to lightweight cotton chinos. The herringbone weave feels a bit softer and looser over time compared to regular cotton, which is kind of nice. For some reason, the navy ones feel heavier and rougher than the cream ones, even though I’m pretty sure it’s the same fabric. Maybe the bleaching process softens up the cream ones, so they end up feeling lighter.

As for when to wear them, it really depends on your climate. I wouldn’t go for them in the winter (I’m in Latvia, so pretty similar to Sweden weather-wise). The cream ones are perfect for summer, and I’d also wear them in late spring or early autumn. Basically, they’re solid three-season trousers, just not for winter.
How do you like these compared to their chinos (if you’ve tried those)?

And do you prefer the cream or navy?

Would like to get one pair of either chinos or the French pocket trousers.

The lambswool sportshirt from William Crabtree is made by William Lockie, so probably identical to their own Rob Howard. If so, the fit is rather modern trim, nothing extreme, roomier than the Oxton cashmere range, very pleasant for me. As a reference the chest width for the EU50/UK42 size is 56cm, but the sweater tapers visibly to the waist, whereas the Rubato is known for being boxy.

I don't have any Rubato to compare (made by WL as well) though.
