I'm looking for a single button, peak lapel double vent tuxedo

Soft shoulders preferred.

Before I go MTM, are there any current RTW offerings out there of the E. Zegna, Isaia or like ilk I should check out?

I picked up a Zegna tux off the forum with peaked lapels/one button/no vent, and its great. Its a Roma model, so the shoulders are a bit beefy, but not obnoxiously so. I would imagine if you could find it in the Milano model, it would be what you're looking for (minus the vents).

If you can go to New York or Chicago, check out Phineas Cole. They offer a 1-button peak lapel tuxedo in the store (but not online). The shoulders have a little structure but nothing severe. Here's their catalog pic:

I believe the Phineas is vented.

I saw this particular tux at the Oak Street store last month.

Love it.

Soft shoulders: Polo Ralph Lauren
Less-soft shoulders: RLBL.
Cheap as dirt: Suit Supply

I just got the Polo version and it, like their suits, fits me like a glove. However, the facings on the RLBL are much more luxurious. If I were to spend more than $2k I would definitely go for the Zegna; it has the best lapel peak I've seen. Though I'd probably get a navy one because they do a fine one.

If you have very specific requirements, I think you'd be better served by going MTO/ bespoke. The Phineas looks sharp but the jacket looks awfully short.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
