Why RRL? It's OK, but why not just get APC (esp at the peasant pricing)

I got pbjs comin in the next week too. I need to complete my denim rotation, still need 45s, maybe sammies and something in matte black.

Which RRL store are you talking about in LA?

I've only seen RRL's on ebay but it'd appear that the new generations of the slim/bootcut are now accurately measured. I'm guessing they're still retailing for $165 but maybe you'll find them on sale. A few people here and on SuFu have picked up a few pairs for cheap at outlets so if you're around one (Camarillo's the only one that comes to mind), you might want to call them up and see.

I can't vouch for the newer generations, as some are selvage, some ringspun, etc. but the pairs I own have been stellar. Slow to fade, first wash coming in a month.

Well, they're not really that much that needs to be said. IIRC, you can buy the bootcut or the slim fit, in one wash state. I have the slim fit, which fits similarly to APC NS. I think the bootcut fits like a pair of Rescue, though I haven't tried one on. The denim is nice and construction pretty decent. I wound't pay retail for them, but at about 60-70 bucks on ebay, they're a good deal.

Jet, what's your waist and inseam? Raw / one-wash RRLs are popping up again on ebay, and I check fairly often so I can keep an eye out for you...or you can take a look yourself, just make sure you get actual waist and inseam measurements from the seller. If you're really adamant about getting a pair right away, then go with the smallest size you can fit into at the store because the jeans stretch out a lot in the waist and thighs. Also, I would say to go with the slim fit over the bootcut because the bootcuts looked like flares to me.

GH,

I'm a 34 and saw some on ebay to get an idea but honestly I'm not much of an ebayer (except selling things) so I dunno. I only wear straights and the different cuts have different back pocket designs if any. I'll just put the money towards some 45s I guess.

I am very particular about most things and they don't really interest me. I don't like anything skinny or baggy and nothing tapered. Good lookin out though I appreciate the input.

Yeah, now that I look it does look more skinny than the Calis. Calis don't look too skinny to me but Detroits may be more his speed.

The first generation of RRLs are notoriously off in their waist size. If you are going to buy them on ebay, ask the seller to measure it for you. The first gen have these types of tags:

The second generation is true to size. I tried on a pair at the RL store and they were as tagged. The second generation has these types of tags (pictured is a non-dry pair):

As for the fit, they are advertised as slim bootcuts (most of them are, some are straight slim) but i wouldnt call it neither slim nor bootcut. It is a much more generous cut than an APC NS and the bootcut is very slight. I am not a skinny guy by any means, but you can see how they fit me in these pictures:

They did stretch an inch or so in the waist, but all denim does that. They are sanforized, so shrinking was minimal after i soaked them. The color and denim itself is amazing. It almost has this asphaltish hue when they are brand new: (this picture was taken at night with a flash, which will definitely alter the true color)

this is a pair from another member on this board (or SuFu, i cant remember) after 12 months and 12 washes...

as my pair continue to age, i appreciate these jeans more and more. its unfortunate that some people look down on them because they are so cheap on ebay. they are definitely a great pair of jeans and i'd highly recommend them. some more pics (from SuFu):

i dont know if this was the sort of info you wanted, but if you have any other questions, ask.
