Given this recent thread, I looked to find a list of all the Royal Warrants. Sure enough, there's a website devoted to the subject:

Royal Warrants are a mark of recognition to individuals or companies who have supplied goods or services for at least five years to HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales. Warrants have always been regarded as demonstrating excellence and quality, and are highly prized.

There are around 850 Royal Warrant Holders representing a huge cross-section of trade and industry. They range from traditional craftspeople to global and multinational firms operating at the cutting edge of technology.

Warrants are granted to named individuals - Grantees - who must personally ensure the Warrant is used correctly. Warrant Holders may display the relevant Royal Arms and the legend "˜By Appointment' on their products, premises, stationery, vehicles and advertising.

Whatever their size or specialisation Warrant Holders are united by their commitment to the highest standards of service and excellence.

Interesting, in light of Edward Green's claim that Charles has a closetful of their shoes, that they're absent from the list.

On the other hand, a Royal Warrant stamped in gold inside EGs would probably be seen as cause for a substantial price increase. Perhaps HRH is just being considerate of the rest of us.

Interesting! I was wondering who the Royal Lubricant Blender was.

It may be true that he does have a closetful of EGs but Warrant requires that he use the services for 5 years.

It is not complete but EG is not on the full list. I left out Livery stuff (Henry Poole) and other hatmakers, etc.

When did they claim this?

I've seen it several times including this, from Cigar Aficionado, 1994:

"Prince Charles has at least 14 pair that I know of, because we sold them to him," says John Hlustik, Edward Green's managing director. "He's rather fond of what we call our house shoe--an unlined, lightweight slip-on--very comfortable for puttering 'round the royal estates, you see. The style was in fact commissioned by the prince's grandfather, George VI. They're quite popular."

And as to an incomplete list... if EG held the warrant, I believe they wouldn't be too shy to use it.

^ Yes, and it would be interesting to know the hows and whys, beside a five-year requirement. I mean... Trickers, but not Green?

Interesting, especially considering Charles likes to wear his 40 year old Lobb's more than anything else.

I don't follow HRH's shoe selections, but he must be a fan of Tricker's country boots I suppose.

I'm surprised the shoes are still wearable...
