I am looking on Ebay and they have some roundtree and york cashmere sweaters going for around 50.00 with a compare to price of around 120. How is the quality of these? I understand you get what you paid for, but would i be better off with these or a similarly priced merino sweater from a maker such as calvin klein or polo(my size limits alot of designers)

R&Y is carried by Dillards here in OKC. The tsuff can be above average and quite durable. I own a few things. Plenty of sales. I looked at some of their corduroy pants for around 40.00.
I'm not sure if the ebay deal is that great on price. Check around.

I own one R&Y cashmere sweater that was a gift from my niece (who purchased it at Dillard's in Oklahoma!). It's turned out to be my favorite sweater because I like the heathered navy color and it's one of my few V-necks. I'm wearing it approximately once a week and it's holding up very well. It shows no signs of pilling in its second year of wear, unlike some of my more expensive cashmere.

BTW, my niece doesn't have $120 to spend on a sweater for me; I'd guess she paid approximately $50 or less, perhaps on sale.

R&Y is a very typical store brand carried exclusively at Dillard's. Quality is decent, but not impressive.

There are three levels

Roundtree and York
Roundtree and York GOLD LABEL
Roundtree and York CARRIBEAN

I agree that the Roundtree and York standard series is typical department store fodder.

The GOLD LABEL polo shirts I have however compare quite nicely with my Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, and Cutter / Buck Polos in every way.

The CARRIBEAN line polos I have compare easily with my Tommy Bahama Polos.

So - there are 3 different lines - and 3 different levels of quality.

Hope this helps.
