bought a gloverall from stp for an amazing price. probably should've got a 34, which wasn't available. fit is okay with the 36, but since i saved $340 off retail, i was thinking about having it tailored. just curious about the general price to have a coat like this tailored. anybody have any idea? (btw, i live in manhattan). also, if i were to get it done, what things does one generally have a tailor do to a coat besides having the chest and sleeves 'taken in?'

Walk the 30 feet to the nearest dry cleaner/tailor. Ask them. It's not that hard.

gawd and you live in manhattan. sad.

Well, since you aren't acquainted with the quality of tailoring in your area just go to Barneys. They have a friggin' menu lined up of how much what will cost. Plus their quality is something I don't ever need to question. I got a 44 jacket to fit like a 42 long by taking the chest in, skinnying up the sleeves and raising the armholes all for 45 bucks.

That is a really good deal for that much work. I would have expected Barney's to charge a lot more for that. They certainly have no qualms about ripping you off for everything else.

Seriously... the jacket was very very well constructed so I was worried he might mess up some of the inner lining but it turned out PERFECT... I cannot emphasize this more.

I plan to go to that specific Barney's tailor for everything now... he said I could even bring stuff in that wasn't a Barney's purchase.

It's an even 15 bucks for darting simple button up shirts ^_^.
