Rosacea question

Does anyone else suffer from rosacea? I have a mild case (subtype 1 I guess); slight persistent redness on the cheeks. Most of my flareups occurred/occur due to triggers such as speaking in front of a group, a job interview, etc.

Anyways, are there any over-the-counter topical creams I should try? I plan on going to see a dermatologist in the near future but I'd like to see if anything else is available.

So for you it's stress/nerves related? I heard spicy food, alcohol and extreme heat/cold conditions can trigger it too.

Every picture of conne I saw he had big rosey cheeks. Makes him look like a little boy!

Try some of the items from the Atopalm line. I use their facewash and MLE cream. It has made a huge difference. I usually get it from skinstore.com but I am sure you could find it elsewhere.

As much as I hate similar commercials, I saw one recently that cliamed they had a new pill that cured it...

Thanks for the suggestions. The problem I have is that most rosacea products are made for people with at least moderate (broken blood vessels, pustules, etc.) rosacea. Mine is just occasional flushing, so it's tough finding something that works.

I read through a rosacea forum yesterday and found some good recommendations on lotions and sunscreen. I'll have to try some of them.

Conne I've got subset type 1 rosacea as well. There really isn't a lot you can do. Like you said, the prescription medicines or other treatments are meant for more severe cases. I've tried the lotion/active skin care/sunscreen method before. It helped a bit, but not really. It just went from being red to a lighter shade of red. It never really goes away.

I use the cleansers and moisturizers from Eucerin's Redness Relief line. The moisturizer has a green tint that tones down the redness. You may also want to try a prescription for Metrogel. I'm using Metrogel for mild rosacea and it's been keeping it under control. Expect the rosacea to get worse when first starting Metrogel. It will get better after two weeks of consistent usage.

You are to young to have rosacea!

Drinking like

is a trigger too.

Metrogel in the summer; metrolotion in the winter. Your rosacea may vary with the season.

There are some other products to try, including a sulfur cream.

I would see a dermatologist before spending money on OTC products.

Conne, this is actually one of the recommendations for minimizing rosacea. Not to mention liver damage.
