1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Apart from the fact that he's posting a whole series of videos on the actual process, which he mentioned just above.

You can't possibly be serious - he is posting a fairly extensive series of videos. SF members are often like little kids who have stuffed themselves silly with cake, yet still shout, "MOAR!!"

    - There are no pictures posted in this thread or the other one. If you're gonna talk about and promote it here why not paste some pictures here? Shilling for another website is annoying.

    - I am not able to view the other website. However TaxGenius suggests no pictures of completed suits on people are available *anywhere.* Pictures of stitching and nice construction are great to have, but suits on people are distinct and important. Fit is paramount.

The garment on the left is a completed Rory Duffy bespoke garment. I can't say whether Rory made his own suit on the right.

Wow - you just dropped your mike and walked off the stage with that one. Well done!

I have criticized Montauk in the past, but he is now posting a full, instructive web series on the subject in question. And you guys are quibbling over why he’s not posting any iPhone selfies in a dirty bathroom mirror??

    The mind boggles.

Apology for what? I have never said anything negative about the quality or fit of his suits. Heck, I have never even seen the fit of any of his suits.

This is disengenuous. Don't criticize my posts without reading them, or read them better.

It's wrong to want to see cut and fit? It's wrong to expect results to be posted in the forum where the product is marketed? Give me a break.

Please, it's apparent that you've made no effort to look. You post here as though it's the mecca of all tailors and you're the grand poobah to whom all evidence of work should be submitted. It's not and neither are you. Try some humility, just for the novelty perhaps? There are plenty of pictures of his work and a site detailing a close inspection of the work that won him the GOlden Shears. Apply that intellect of yours and find out for yourself. One can only guess why a young professional tailor would elicit this behaviour from you but that's your business I suppose.

For my part, I like Rory as a person and as someone who has tried to set up a business in the past I know the challenges and emotional investments along with the financial risks. I will not let people who are too lazy and or mean-spirited such as you cast a shadow over someone who I believe is honest, talented and let's face it, in very rare supply.

Also, please answer my question - why do you doubt that I will post pictures of my finished suits from him? You made the statement/accusation now back it up.

My suspected ineptitude with a camera is matched only by your confirmed laziness and malice. I can prove you wrong, you've already proven me right. At this point, it's clear you're just a troll trying to slander someone you know nothing about. Good day to you. Genius? Pfft!

Why does every new venture in tailoring get jumped on? If its old and expensive its beyond reproach isn't it?

What is going on here? People keep saying other people are "jumping" on Duffy, when in fact they are just hoping to see some of his stuff. I don't see a negative comment about his work anywhere.

Stop being an ass - you're dissing the guy because he hasn't posted pics of completed garments. His 'marketing' effort is limited to documenting the process via a web series, not morphing into Duffy's PR man. Also, as any tailor will tell you, producing these pics is hard (how many pics of completed garments do we see on this forum?), as it requires the consent of the customer.

You remind of the guy at the end of the O'Mast screening in NY, who droned on forever on how boring the documentary was (as completed suits weren't shown), w/o having any appreciation for the craft / story that was being outlined.

I now eagerly await another aphorism - hopefully, this one can trump "Fit is paramount", but I know it'll be hard to top that.

Why is your reading comprehension so low? What you think I've said and what I've said are different.

Perhaps "archetypaLyuppie" cannot access the videos because he is imprisoned, or otherwise institutionalized, with limited internet privileges. In any case, I wish him well.

The purpose of this series has always been to demonstrate the process of handcraft bespoke tailoring. In my first flush of enthusiasm for the project, I might have made the mistake of announcing it here too early, and perhaps a bit too breathlessly for some. Big f*cking deal. Those who’ve accused me of "shilling" for Rory never bothered to read my original post, which was explicitly intended "to help raise [Duffy's] profile enough to keep him here [in NYC]."

Those wishing to see examples of Rory's finished work have always been encouraged to either visit his website or continue following this series to its conclusion. Additionally, anyone who’s in NYC this Saturday is welcome to come by the Styleforum trunk show and meet Rory and myself in person. Rory will also be hosting an afterparty at his home workshop in Williamsburg, where “taxgenius”(!) might finally be satisfied that Duffy’s suits do in fact fit live homo sapiens.

I relish the prospect of meeting certain denizens of this thread face to face.

For those unable to attend, rest assured that I am hoping in the near future to make a one-off video focusing on the specifics of Rory's "house style," featuring one of his customers modelling their latest commissions.

In the meantime, here's what's gone live so far of the "Making of a Coat" series on A Suitable Wardobe. I’m pleased to report that Jeffery Diduch has seen fit to cross-post them to his excellent blog Made By Hand.
