there's dior homme, helmut lang, and probably a handful of belgians.

is that spot overcrowded? i'd really like to slot myself in there. but i'd like to avoid too many camparisons and that dreaded word.. DERIVATIVE.

i want to hear your views.

Are you a designer or design student? In any case, you have missed a few. Jil Sander and Calvin Klein and Donna Karan (remember the seven easy pieces?) are the most obvious omissions. Lately, Gabriele Strehl (sp?) (Strenesse) has been getting a lot of press. Also, I'm not sure that Hedi Slimane (Dior Homme) is really a minimalist.

In any case, you would not be labeled "derivative" as long as you have a unique vision. Minimalism covers a wide spectra. The minimalism of Helmut Lang and that of Jil Sander, for example, are quite different.
