Despite some really good meals at local non-chain Italian establishments, my wife and I decided to go to Romano's today for lunch. What a disaster.
The problems started right away. We ordered the calamari. It was stinky in an expired seafood kind of way with a terrible aftertaste. After two bites we knew something was horribly wrong. Fortunately the manager made right by apologizing (he claimed the bread coating was bad but it seemed more than that to us) and allowing us to change.
When the entree arrived, my wife's dish was entirely undercooked. My Penne Rustica had cold prosciutto, vastly undercooked penne pasta, and undercooked shrimp. We should have sent them back but felt like we would be making trouble after sending the appetizer back. We ate barely anything and left quickly.
We used to love going here but the food seems to have gone downhill. Maybe this is an isolated instance but it was one of the worst meals I have had in recent memory.
A wasted $50 lunch. Romano's is off my list.
