Dress well and you'll be fine. Have your pants hanging half way off your ass and you'll look like a rapper wannabe with some serious bling. I'm not much for all gold watches myself, but I think it's really a matter of how you carry yourself.

of course, under "the rules" wearing any watch at all to a wedding is a faux pas.

I bought the same watch, but with the white Roman dial, when I was twenty five. I don't recall any ageist backlash but then I looked a few years older than my age.I still have the watch but I rarely wear it as it's a bit ubiquitous. I still like gold watches with bracelets but I prefer a smaller profile now.

Currenly I wear a JLC Reverso Gran' Sport Automatique

I have my eye on a Blancpain Leman Moonphase in rose gold

It may be time to flip the Rolex.

Why do you care about what other people think? You're 20-years old for God's sake. Wear the watch and screw what other people think.

i like that rolex. it is gold, and imo i would not wear it until i am over 45 or so, just my opinion, but i do like the watch per se.
if you have qualms about wearing it, just keep it safe in your home as a keepsake. how lovely that your father gave you this as a gift and you will always have it to remember him by (whether he is alive or passed away, sorry)
i dont have anything from my dad.
just keep it and it may become a more expensive who knows, but it is priceless in your situation i suppose.
wear it to the wedding. i think any special occasion would make it a fine choice.

armani suit, etro shirt, and lv shoes are excellent pieces to your attire and i bet you will look one of the better fellows at the wedding, and weddings are a time to have fun, the singles usually trying to scope out and wear their best apparel and accessories. enjoy your day!

As a 20 y/o attending a marriage you shouldn't screw what other people think you should screw other people period... Wear the watch, with anything you want.

Goldfinger
He's the man, the man with the midas touch.
Silver is just sooo much better to me. Also, I would agree that's an older man's watch with the Gold.

But if you like it, sport it with confidence and it might work.

A watch is as much a reflection of a man's taste as say, his shoes or ties. If this particular watch reflects you, wear it in good health.

Nice thread...good pictures...

Rolex is fine.

I own 3 myself.

1)Rolex Submariner Oyster Perpetual(black face w/blue/black dial)
2)Rolex Daytona Oyster Perpetual (white face w/2 rows diamond bezel)
3)Rolex Daytona Oyster Perpeual (black face w/princess cut diamond bezel)

My other watches are:

Bvlgari Assioma Chronograph (black face/large model)
Breitling Bentley Navitimer watch (black face)

All the watches are silver, or white gold.

I wear these w/my Alby ties, Armani, John Varvatos, Zegna or Polo Italy suits.

As far as watches are concerned..they're all excellent IMHO
We should all wear them and shine as they do

IMO it yells cheap HK-fake on a 20 year old, unless you complement this watch with the 'right'* outfit (something that makes you look older, etc.).

*but maybe this watch should only be worn by some kind of fortune500 CEO, rapper or oil-sheik

To me, gold watches, and especially Rolex gold watches, look tacky.
However, there is nothing wrong with being a bit tacky, I think, as long as you do not take yourself too seriously and as long as you do not believe that you are better than others just because you are lucky enought to have a good and expensive watch.
Honour your father and wear it!
(And if your Armani suit has functional sleeve buttonholes, don't forget to unbutton one or two of them, for God's sake. Hey, this was a joke).

Armani and functioning buttonholes has got to be an oxymoron. I'd have to agree on your thoughts on Gold.

Gold's making a comeback...you should be one of those to sway the trend again.
