I think it's silly to match a pocket square exactly to your shoes and/or socks (right and left). I kind of like the rightmost socks, though.
Tell me why.
Not to use exactly the same color all over that would be busy. But to use same diffrent shape of colors to match socks, shoes and ps would look cool. When i'm saying shoes i'm thinking more of velvet slippers or loafers. Little more funky and casual.
Then I think we agree! When I say "match" I mean the exact same color. Different shades are another, more complicated story.
I definitely consider the other elements in a 'fit' when selecting socks. Of the tie/square/sock combo I personally try to have some strong color relationship between two of the three. Three out of three can be too matchy.
As for slippers in public -
personally, i dont wear a PS, but i am not really concerned if my socks match anything other than my shoes and pants. northern and southern hemispheres are non related for me.
