In general how much are quality socks? Are the quality socks usually made from cotton/wool?

95% of my socks are navy blue or wine coloured, mostly in fil d'ecosse. The other day I bought some yellow Pantherella thin wool socks. I want more of those.

I get mine at new&lingwood, and I think they're £15 a pair. They also have a bargain-bin that's lower priced, presumably the same quality. The ones I buy are 70% merino 30% nylon, but you can also get 90/10 or plain 100% merino. Simply a matter of the tradeoff between warmth and durability. I find the 70/30 to be much more durable than the 100% merino ones and still good and warm, 70% is also plenty to keep the anti-bacterial and sweat-wicking properties of wool intact, so very little smell and dry all day. Never tried the 90/10 ones.

Think £15 is quite representable, but I'm sure they can be found closer to £10, I just happen to really like the selection and the service at N&L, and besides £15 isn't bad.

Edit: Wow, the polka dot ones are magnificent. I'd never wear them myself, but they're awesome nonetheless.

I love seeing funky socks paired with a conservative suit and shoes.
