1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Didn't get a chance to skim through everything, where is everyone liking their socks from? I picked up about 7 pairs on sale at jcrew last weekend

Thank you very much - wore them all day the first time out and luckily they're very comfy.

I personally hate J Crew socks. They mostly have wacky stripes, or patterns, which I don't like and even their "dress" socks are so thick they look very casual. I would say the best socks people would probably agree on Gallo and Marcoliani. I have had good luck with socks from Brooks Brothers as well.

Was thinking about pulling the trigger on Viccel but seems like quite a few people find them to rip easily.

Where can I get Paul Smith socks for a good price shipped to Canada? Or any other recommendations?

Paul Smith socks are going to rip just as easily as Viccel socks. I used to have a bunch of Paul Smith socks. Desintigrated fast. I always found Brooks Brothers socks to be a good value.

Oh okay, I just wish Viccel also carried multi-coloured socks.

What about Pantherella or Bresciani? We need a best socks thread...

They never stock anything I would ever buy either.

Pantherella is just ok. They fall apart quite fast too. Not anywhere near Paul Smith though. I know Paul Smith is made some some Italian brand. Can't remember the name at the moment.

A lot of people write about the failing quality of Pantherella. I've worn their socks for 20+ years and find their wool blends are still be pretty good and last a decent length of time. However, I find their cotton or cashmere socks fade and/or fall apart soon.
