Robust bed for under $500?

I have the cheap frame that came with my mattress. It's actually pretty stout for what it is, but it is not enduring 'activities'. These frames do not extend to the foot of the bed, so the bed tends to slide back and forth in the frame. Also it tends to slide around on my hardwood floor. I've tried using rug slip material for both problems and it only made a slight improvement. It also makes noises.

I'm sick of squeaky beds. I want a bed that feels like it's bolted to the floor, and makes no noise. I want a bed that's quiet like a hotel bed. Where does this bed exist? I'm hesitant to buy anything online, and I hate going to furniture stores. Anything available for under $500? I'm a student so funds are tight for another year, but I want something that will last. I could spend more if it's legit. Would a certain rug hep prevent the sliding?

I find that there's a lot less noise if the wheels are removed and the feet are placed in wells in big squares of artifical rubber (which also protects your toes when you run into them). Additionally, it's easy to reinforce cheap frames with a drill, nuts, and bolts. Tighten those nuts before a date.

Uh.....yeah.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
