Wow. Just, wow. I always suspected he might be a touch fruity. I lost a lot of respect for him w/ the Hirschbeck episode, but he was a ******* poet at 2B. One of the greatest players I had the good fortune to see play in person over many years in Baltimore. Very, very devastating if true.

One of my favorite Alomar moments: I don't remember who we were playing, but with a runner on 2nd someone hit a short single. Alomar was the cutoff man, took the throw and turned his feet and looked home like he was going to throw there, but the runner had been held in the meantime. All in one motion, while bluffing this throw home, he just sidearmed the ball across to third and caught the runner trying to scramble back to third. Just the kind of of player who could turn defense into offense. Awesome.

Just talked to my GF about this. She has a friend with whom he did the deed while he was in Baltimore. She has 2 kids now, so presumably she's been all tested up and clean, but still, it'd have to make your heart skip a few beats. I bet there are hundreds of women whose hearts are skipping a few beats.

was a very funny post on sporting news blog about how yesterday's players were drunks and junkies but today's players drug use is all about performance and a better body. old timers are idolized, players now are demonized.

No kidding. I don't know how old you are, lots of people on here probably never saw Strawberry and Gooden in their primes, but those two were reall amazing the first couple of years.
