On Monday, January 5th, Robert Gillotte returns to the New York branch of Turnbull & Asser in his old position of bespoke shirt manager.

Rob is a veteran of the New York clothing scene having worked at Kiton, Oxxford, and Alan Flusser.

Rob looks forward to meeting you on his return.

Seitelman, why do I get the feeling that walking into T&A or Oxxford with you is an experience like walking into Wilkes with iammatt or a casino with Frank Sinatra in the 50s?

Everyone agreed not to discuss that "incident" again.

I would say that it is like going with Sinatra to Jilly's bar.

Rob Gillotte is a friend, and he has always provided excellent service. I have read many complaints about Turnbull, but I have experienced none of the typical complaints of delay or misfittings.

Also, Lou Verde, the manager has been most gracious.

I just want to spread the word about excellent products and service. I tend to "shout from the rooftops" about excellence.

I am soon going to post some pictures of Oxxford's line for next Fall.

Cheers.

This is good. Have you thought of collaborating with Will's A Suitable Wardrobe blog? He seems interested in finding the most excellent products too.

On bespoke I believe that it's a six shirt minimum on the first order. Thereafter, there is no minimum.

I am not sure if Turnbull still has a MTM shirt which is a mix and match of shirt pieces (e.g., 19 collar on a 15 shirt with 39 sleeves). I recall that that there was no minimum, and the price was about $25 below bespoke.

Bespoke prices are as follows:

a) $325 for the "Classic Poplin" line;

b) $350 for the "Exclusive Poplin" line; and

c) $375 for the "Super Fine Cotton" line.

I am not sure of the cost of the next level, "Sea Island Quality."

I would call Robert Gillotte in NYC or Simon Hobbs in Beverly Hills to discuss if the minimums still hold and if there is the MTM option.

Good luck.

I've met many clothing industry folks but Rob stands out as a special person. Friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, gentlemanly, customer oriented in the best sense of the word. All around good guy. Highly recommended for you local NYers to visit him and talk clothing. I guarantee you might learn something.

How does he compare with Massimo? Do you find that he is more truthful with you than Massimo has been?

The Bespoke/MTM shirts start at $325-475 and the miminum order is six. The Bespoke ties starts around $190, and the miminum order is three.
