This month's issue of Robb Report magazine has an interesting article about the current state of affairs with the Savile Row (London) tailors. Some good pictures of some sharp looking pinstripe suits. There are many internet links. Also, there are short "interviews" with the CEOs of several major men's wear companies--what do they wear and why?

I read the latest Robb Report too, and while it was reasonably informative, there is just something about the Robb Report that rubs me the wrong way. It is pretentious in the worst way, and presumes that class can bought, which is a crass, stereotypically "Ugly American" concept. The last article was the kicker, that you can attain class in three generations. The very idea that you can acquire class is venal and antithetical to the notion of class. But I guess it's America, and you've gotta sell something.

Oh, I agree that the magazine is pretentious. But it does have some interesting and useful information. It is a matter of accepting the good with the bad.
