Just a note to say that RM Williams boots can be had for a good deal now direct from Australia - due to the strengthened dollar / weaker AUD.

The classic Craftsman Yearling Leather boots now run about US $175, plus shipping, at Aussiebushhats.

I know some here love these things, so this is a real steal compared to prices i've seen in the past.

The US dollar just hit a 5-year high against the British pound.

I've been wanting a pair for quite a while. Might have to take advantage of this deal. Thanks!

The strong dollar is a conspiracy to make Americans think they are not in a recession by spending on shoes and shirts across the pond.

We're just letting you think it's strong. Then we'll rip the value out from under you! Mwa ha ha...

In the mean time though, a little less Ebay shopping for me. Damn it was good when the $AUD was at US97c!

I like the way you think, I could use a boot like the Stockman, and I just promised my wife I was finished buying shoes at least until X-mas...

Predictions on how long it continues to trend this direction? I will be all over some C&Js shortly and if someone would kindly call the floor on this that would be great. C&J Benchgrade is down to $332 as of today for anyone with there eye on the 348 last.

FWIW, the futures markets have both the AUD and British pound pretty flat over the next year (British pound strengthening by about 1%, AUD weakening by about 2%).

Of course, if someone could call the bottom with any certainty, they'd be able to make enough money to have a closet full of C&Js and RMWs...

I paid $380 two weeks ago, ordered a pair of boots on the 348 last and they were $320 shipped. Cheaper than AE!
