RM Williams Boots - Everything You Wanted to Know

Hey everyone, new here and just got my first pair of RM's. I've found a small cut just second wear in and I'm wondering whether I should 1) be worried and 2) if there's anything I can/should do to make sure this doesn't turn into something big or 3) is it nothing to worry about.

Doesn't look like anything to worry about; a little dab of polish will make it less noticeable.

Recap: had new gores put on my 20 year old Gardeners back in January..but on the first walk back in March the leather split at the back next to the seam on the right boot, but oddly just above the heel, so no direct pressure.

Not too sure it can be re-sewn or maybe a custom strip of leather can be applied up the back.

The boots otherwise are still in pretty good shape.

Hey how did you size these? I've seen to size down a half size but also to take your usual size. What did you go with?

I wear a 9+ US and went for an 8 1/2 UK, they fit like a glove, I usually need the width otherwise an 8UK would be fine. Same goes for all my Tricker's....and as I don't mind adding the odd insert 9UKs work for me too.
As all our feet are different it's sometimes a leap of faith, even different styles from the same manufacturer and with the exact same last sometimes don't work.

Follow up....

RM Williams got back saying they are not repairable and no replacement due to age....but my initial costs for having the the new Gores installed was totally refunded.
Needless to say I dropped them off at a local cobbler for a quick (and dirty?) $30 patch up job, and maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing and to the one piece diehards a big oh no, but my Gardeners do get to live, to die another day.

Still fit like a glove and I'll hopefully get another 15-20 years out of them.

Got these in today, I’m guessing the center crease settles after some time?

Yes, the center crease is normal due to the way they are constructed, and will settle.

For those interested in a first pair of RM Williams, but worried about cost, the Comfort Allrounder is still relatively inexpensive at $315 US. They come with the "comfort" rubber sole, which is a little less formal but much more practical (less slippery) than the leather sole, and can still be worn in fairly formal settings - certainly with a sport coat and slacks. I own both a brown and a black pair.
