All RM Williams have this initially. You will see their is no jointing of the leather in the middle of the boot (only the rear) this is called a whole cut. As a consequence when the boot is on the wooden last where it’s shaped this line appears but after a few wears it disappears. One of the reasons these are so comfortable is the lack of extra seams to potentially rub.Hello, I just bought my first pair of chelsea boots and I wanted to ask your opinion regarding this pair. Why is there a line going through the middle of the boot, and should I be returning this pair?

No it is an oily leather called bark or oily fern.Usually it’s not quite as pronounced as that, looks like a rough out leather?
Looks really niceNo it is an oily leather called bark or oily fern.
Yes, that’s a rough out suede leather. Be nice when broken in and will pick up scars and patina quite nicely. No it is an oily leather called bark or oily fern.
Thanks, I really like the leather but I am debating whether or not I should keep them because of the poron insole.Looks really nice
Doesn't feel like a rough out, it creases like a normal leather and there is no nap.Yes, that’s a rough out suede leather. Be nice when broken in and will pick up scars and patina quite nicely.
Only you can decide. Leather looks like a more rough type of leather. Will probably scuff up which will be kind of cool but not dressy. Depends what you intend to use as I guess.
I'm sorry if this has already been posted but has RM Williams gotten rid of their Burgundy Chelsea boot or have they just renamed it? Thanks.
