Anyone interested in buying my chestnut Turnout in 10 G? This is equivalent to US size 10.5 E. (I know that RMW tells you this is equivalent to 11 E US size but trust me on this - your toes will touch the end of the shoes if you try 11 E US size to the 10 G RMW size)

I got it about 3 months ago and wore it every Friday so that makes it about 12 wearings. I also wear a thin Dr. Scholl's liner - so the inner lining is very clean.

Let me know if you are interested - just PM me. I love the thing but I should have gotten the black or whiskey. Chestnut is a nice color but I don't seem to have enough fashion sense to match up this color to the rest of my wardrobe.

ps. I have the original shoe box and original receipt including the actual shipping date from Australia.

Sator: Thanks for this, this is an amazing thread! I was just at the RM Williams website today coincidentally thinking about taking the plunge. My brother went to grad school at UWS and came home converted to RM Williams and always raves about them! I plan on taking the plunge on my first pair this week and this thread was invaluable![IMG]

Can polished black Craftsman boots be worn with a dinner jacket/tuxedo (in the absence of patent leather opera pumps/oxfords)?

    Err, maybe in the outback.

I recently received a pair of Whiskey Craftsman boots from Nungar, and am very happy with them other than some discoloration on one of the boots. The left boot has a light patch on the outside that I'm not terribly worried about, but there's also what appears to be some dye that splattered on the toe of the boot. My cobbler is wary of dealing with the dye splatter. Only one of the splatter marks is noticeable from a distance, but to my mind these boots aren't "firsts". I haven't yet contacted Nungar about it because I thought I'd get opinions from other folks first as to what they'd find a reasonable resolution. Normally I'd expect to just send them back and receive a new pair, but shipping comes to nearly $50 AUD each way, so I feel like accepting them at some sort of discount would be a reasonable compromise. It's not that they're unwearable, but I don't feel they should cost full price either.

Here are the pictures. So far I've worn them for about 30 seconds on carpet. Thoughts?

In my opinion the discolouration is not that big of a deal, as it will fade in with the finish after a few polishes. I would however send them back due to the splatter marks, and expect a refund for the shipping charges.

I'm looking for a pair of black boots to wear with slim dry jeans, black jeans or grey trousers. Would the Macquaries fit the bill, or are there any other models I should consider? If so, how does the sizing run? I typically wear size 42 - 8.5 in CT Loake oxfords, 8.5 in Frye Brandos, and 42 in Quoddys.

I just dropped by the NY store and there are a fair number of boots on sale for $200. I didn't get a chance to see about sizes or styles and I'm not familiar enough with RM Williams to know which models were on sale simply by looking.

You probably should have read the first post containing all the sizing information. And I quote... "RMW widths are: C=extra extra narrow D=extra narrow E=narrow F=medium-narrow G=medium H=wide" N is way outside the standard width sizing range and most likely refers to the toe shape, again in the first post of this thread... http://img143.imageshack.us/my.php?i...tstablejx7.jpg

I just returned from a trip where I didn't take the time to get Internet access, so I haven't taken care of this yet. Any other thoughts on how to deal with this situation? Do most people think this is a reasonable expectation?

If you are not totally satisfied with the boots, you should tell them, thus giving them the possibility to react on your worries. Later is too late [IMG]
