Just came from the mansion & they had on display about 7 pairs of shoes all made in Italy, which I was told they were the new PL line not yet displayed on the site. The ones I looked at had gold badges on the sole which was stamped "Made in Italy" & were priced at $1,100.

They still had about 10 pairs of EG made shoes, but said they were all MTO.

The little gold plate is reminiscent of Tramezza

oh yeah that's true too. It would be odd, seems like they would despise Ferragamo.

Aren't Tramezza made by the Zegna-Ferragamo JV (Zefer)? It is possible that the JV is allowed to produce for other brands... especially in this retail market. On the buying side, RL uses many "competitors" as manufacturers for its products, so that shouldn't be anything new.

That said, I have no idea who makes these shoes

In hindsight, I probably should have snapped some pics seeing as to how I had the cameraphone handy to capture a stalker.

There was at least 2 pair I would wear, the "new" version of the Marlow which had full Norwegian welt, a more pointy toe & was a balmoral. Next they had what I thought to look like a dark oak colored MacKay, less the 888 shape.

These were among the 7 or so shoes in the RTW section.

It appears I may have waited too long to pull the trigger on Mackays.

Very true.

I was holding out for the next RL ultra giveaway sale on their EG RLPL shoes. Even with the pound trading low, I doubt EG prices will be in the $300 range.

When I saw them, the plate on the sole that said "Ralph Lauren Made in Italy" looked like leather instead of metal. Maybe I didn't look carefully enough.

I don't remember them ever being $300. They were $450 minimum.

You may be right. I thought I recalled some forumites getting RLPL EG's in the $300-400 range.
