Hi everyone,

I couldn't decide on which pair to get so I got both pairs to try on. I have attached some pics. Which pair is better? At first I was leaning towards the Mackays, but after trying on the Barksdale, I fell in love. Am I crazy?? Thanks for your suggestions.

If you really like the Barksdales, keep them.

If you can't keep both, keep the Mackays as I feel that they are much more versatile. That, and get you pant legs shortened

You're screwed because they're both good. Keep and enjoy.

You are overthinking the choice. Pick the one that speaks to you. They're going to be on your feet, not ours, after all.

Go to for the one you fell in love with. And disregard what we said which one to choose.

I'm having a difficult time deciding. That's why I'm here asking for a second opinion. Anyone feel strongly for one over the other?

Edmoral, Why do you feel that the Mackays are more versatile? Don't the Barksdale look much better with jeans?

You should buy both, the Mackay in a 12 D and the Barksdale in 11.5D, then ship me whichever you decide not to keep!

Seriously, if you love the Barksdale, go for it. The RL Mackay or the EG Asquith will be there for your next purchase, if you want to buy it next.

Great pics BTW!! I think I'm in love too, but I've tried on the Barksdale and EG's 888 last is a bit too snug for me.

Here are some more pics with jeans. There is one drawback to the Barksdale however--they are not as comfortable as the Mackays.

I think they both look great with jeans or other casual attire but I can not wear loafers with a proper suit, hence, my choosing of the Mackays.

Both of those look great, they are the only 2 shoes in RLPL line that I like. Hard to compare which is "better" as they seem to have their own place in a shoe wardrobe firmly established. I would lean towards the MacKays as I could wear them casually just fine, whereas the loafers would look more out of place formally.

I would go for the Mackay, because I personally think I'd rather have a casual loafer in a more casual color than dark brown.

The Mackay and Barksdale have incredibly different fits, though. When I bought my first Mackays at the Mansion, the salesman also made me try the Barksdales. He told me he couldn't sell me any loafers because they were so narrow and my feet were so wide, that the size that fit me would end up too long for my foot.
