RLPL Edward Green Mackay Color Choices

I'm in the market for some EG Mackays but I want to know what color choices there are. So far I gather there is a black, suede, edwardian, and dark oak. Do you have to ask for antiqued or are those colors just standard? What are people's preferences for color? I'm leaning toward dark oak.

Edwardian and dark oak should be antiqued. Black and suede obviously not. I, too, prefer dark oak, with edwardian a close second.

Yes.

They should fit snugly, but shouldn't hurt. There are some other issues to note, for example how the flex point and toe cap hits your joints. If this doesn't feel right, it may hurt like hell later on. I know this from experience.

I have the Edwardian (yes, antiqued it is) and the black.

I thought they may have been too tite when I got my first pair. But they got more comfortable as I got more time on them and now with about 40-50 hours of wear each they are amazingly comfortable.

And it is amazing how you will walk in a Men's store (I am still at Wynn's in LV) and the sales clerk will immediately notice your shoes.

Definitely get a pair of the blacks on sale (if they still have your size) and look for the others.

Whoopee, did you resolve this problem satsifactorily? I am still trying, and am starting to think that no ready to wear E. Green cap toe will fit me.

Same..

My flat foot probably has a bit to do with it - I picked up the last 10.5 dark oak Mackays at the Chevy Chase store a few months back and had to return them because they were uncomfortably snug across the toebox, but perfect length-wise. Sigh.

i went to the wynn and there is this shoe store across from the brioni store that has some fabulous santoni limited editions there.
i saw a burgundy embossed captoe there that was awesome.

Since I'm between sizes, if I go for the smaller size, I don't have this problem. I do prefer the longer size though, so next time I order a captoe I may point this out to whoever is fitting and see what they can come up with.

I had the problem with a captoe in the 888 last, UK size 8E. Union Works recommended, in order of less to more drastic, glueing a hard leather patch on the inside of the toe cap, inserting an innersole, and stretching the shoe.
The hard leather patch provided temporary relief. I have a captoe in the 888 last, UK size 7.5F. Unfortunately it is starting to pinch in the same way.

The 89 last in a US 9D doesn't give me any problem.

Hilary gave me a better solution. I gave her the numbers inside the shoe and she mailed a pair of full length socks or insoles, which push the foot back into the heel. Perfect.

I would love to get hands on size 9/9.5 Mackay, but polo does not ship to Canada nor I see any pairs on eBay.

Pay an SF'er to receive it for you and make a transshipment. That way he can also pack it as a gift or some other way to evade customs.

damn, the mackays are 595 on polo.com right now. Too bad the only color they have left is black
