RLPL Authenticity Check

Hey everyone,

I bought this RLPL tie on ebay, and I'm wondering if it's a knock-off. The fabric is heavy and seems to be of good construction, but the tip is slight misshapen, and it's missing the little piece that holds the tail (tie bar only, perhaps?). Anyways, I was hoping that you guys could clear it up for me.

Thanks.

Can't really tell from the pictures. I have not encountered fakes of purple label, but they may very well exist.

It looks like it was sewn strange, the mitered edges do not line up.
Let it hang for a day or two and then see how it looks.

What it does not have, is the Ralph Lauren in joined up writing behind the blade of the tie on the purple lining. I would therefore say, fake.

Yeah, I noticed that it didn't have the white writing along the border...unless they weren't doing that a few years back?

This seems a little hasty. I know for a fact that not all Made in Italy purple label ties have Ralph Lauren printed in script on the lining. There's nothing obviously fake about it. The silk is of the style and sort you would expect and the tags and lining look right. But it does appear to be fairly well used. One possibility that springs to my mind is that it's been cleaned and slightly badly pressed. And it's lost the keeper somewhere along the way. If the tie was advertised new or nwot, then I would take that up with the seller.

No, it's not the same seller, nor the same tie. Mine has dots inbetween the boxes and a suttle box pattern stitched behind the white pattern. It looks quite similar, though.

As for the seller, I'm out of the feedback period, so I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably get around to asking sometime this week. It was difficult to track down the thread as I purchased it back in November.

Looks authentic to me based on the pattern, color, lining, and tags. The older Purple Label tags did not have the script writing at the bottom of the inside edge. Trust me, I've got dozens of them.
