RL Blazer for $592? Good value?

With the upcoming RL sale, I believe the basic blue blazer will be marked down to $592 ($995 - 30% - 15%).

Is this a good price/quality value?

Without having to make an exhaustive search, can I find a better blazer in the $600 range?

How would the Joseph A Bank Signature Gold version at $500 compare?

Even if you require brand new clothes, there are so many basic blue blazers out there in the world that paying more than a couple of hundred dollars for one seems silly to me. I don't know the quality of the RL one you're talking about, but unless it's RLPL I assume it's fused, in which case it's definitely not worth $600.

Not really, in my opinion. I really love Polo's styling and fabrics, and for that I can forgive their half-canvased construction. However, with something as standard as a blue blazer, you can really get that anywhere, and the premium I'm willing to pay for RL Polo kind of vanishes.

Where do you live? If a visiting Hong Kong tailor comes to you neck of the woods, you can probably get one MTM for about $800 or so, which in my opinion would be a better value.

If you know your size and how certain brands fit, and you don't need the blazer right away, you can definitely find a similar or better jacket for less money online.

Check Ebay, VirtualClothesHorse, and the sellers on this forum.

Since the blue blazer is such a wardrobe staple, I would argue that it is worth spending a bit more to get something perfect rather than something acceptable. That said, I don't think a $600 RL blazer is either.
