What are people's opinion of RL? I'm thinking of picking up a suit or two by them.

Thanks in advance.

I just got one from them and I think RL Black Label is great. Its a step up in Quality and fit from blue lable suits.

The Black Label items in my local outlet all seem fused.

They are a very nice fit and style however. Considerably slimmer than RL Polo items but not quite as much as RLPL. I wear a 38S in RLPL and generally a 36S in Polo (sometimes a 37S, depending on exact style) but in Black Label the 37S fits perfectly. The fusing bugs me though.

I saw a Purple-Label navy wool blazer that was fused just yesterday. It was the made in Italy stuff.

No, it is made by Cantarelli.

Many of the PL sportcoats are made by Cantarelli as well.

I seem to recall someone here reporting that the first generation of Black Label was fused, because the bean-counters at RL didnt want to invest too heavily until they had determined whether the line had legs. Current season Black Label should be full canvas, or so I remember.

I have a grey flannnel black label suit from the second season they made them (last winter), and it's definitely fused but I like the fit a lot. the pants are especially great because they are cut straight in the leg but are slim enough that it's not anything close to a bootcut. i probably wouldn't buy anothor though, because (thanks to this forum) it now lookes a ittle bit fashion victim-ish to my eyes and will probably look dated in a year or so. they make some nice blue label suits that are cut slim too (like the congressman) that are no as "euro" looking, and i tend to like that a little better. i'm not sure what the black label is supposed to evoke. it's definitely not american and not really british either like the purple label. the low button stance in particular i find looks a little odd.

I spoke to a guy at the RP store said black label is by Corneliani .

The jacket I picked up is fully canvas. Can't speak for the rest of the line. But I really like the fit and cut.

If you look at the label of a Black Label suit, and I have seen many, it is definately not Corneliani.

They do a nice job. Not on par with St Andrews, but would not shy away from them if you like the fit. I personally like Corneliani's fully canvassed line for Polo better, but that is based on the fit and fabrics they use for this line.
