They priced themselves out of the market. The high end plasmas were great, but not enough of an improvement over the best LCDs to justify the cost differential.
Are you talking the pio elites? Even the regular Kuros were fantastic and better than any LCD.
Unfortunate news. I guess not enough plasma buyers were willing to pay something like a 50% price premium between a very good plasma like Panasonic and to a great plasma like Pioneer. If this price premium was smaller I think they would have sold a lot more TVs.
Plasma was just a stop gap technology. Too many cons (especially weight and power consumption) for the general mass market.
