Kansai Yamamoto who brought the more flamboyant side of Japanese style to public attention, particularly through his designs for David Bowie, has died.

The Japanese fashion designer was famed for bringing ‘basara’ to Bowie, and went on to be a huge influence on a generation of younger talents from Jean Paul Gaultier to Hedi Slimane

He hadn't done any new work for a while, and his particular take was no longer that popular in a more subdued age but he shouldn't be forgotten.

Man, I was counting on him to make a comeback in the upcoming apocalypse as he had some great designs for a dystopian, warload future.

He is considered one of the Japanese greats.
