what I heard is that the No. 172 is more generous than regular size 40.
I've only had experience with 184, the Italian soft shoulder model.
Here is a photo of the navy suit I ordered from the Khaki's of Carmel trunk show in San Francisco for Ring Jacket. Mr Sasamoto did all of the measurements. The fabric is a light weight fine twill Loro Piana. Mr Sasamoto really knows his stuff. The fit was excellent right out of the box.
I just heard that Khaki's of Carmel is planning another trunk show with Ring Jackets in San Francisco for March 24th with Mr Sasamoto from Ring Jacket.
I'm thinking about getting a cotton olive/khaki suit. Either that or perhaps a dark tan or light brown corduroy with patch pockets , 3-2 roll.
When I find out more specific details I will post them here.
Ring suit on maiden voyage
I also attended the last show and ordered 3 Sport Coats and Mr. Sasamoto did an incredible job. The fit was spot on.
I cant wait to see what his new offerings will be.
What's the price range for the suits at the trunks shows (2 pc)?
Also, Justin, what's the cuff on that?
I think it varies by fabric book/mill. I want to say they start at about $1600-$$$$. OTR suits cost me $1100 which is the most I spent on something OTR but it fit so great that I didn't mind.
Cuffs are 2". They definitely seen and appear larger in the picture
For suits of this quality that really isn't that bad.
I added a lot of quarter and butterfly lined suits this year. I am curious to see how they hold up over time relative to their fully and half lined counterparts, especially since they are so much more comfortable to wear.
I work in an environment that requires a lot of movement and I tend to run really warm. These jackets/suits have allowed more ventilation. I just fear in the summer if any sort of perspiration gets to the fabric or areas where there is no lining it would ruin the garment. Thats why Im adding a few more to the wardrobe to get more rotation so as to not wear one too often
Time will tell. Mine have sweat guards, but I'm also just worried about the general abrasion. My wool ones seem fine so far, but I really wonder about the cashmere.
Here are the details for the Ring Jacket Trunk Show in San Francisco and Styleforum Meetup on March 24. If you want to make an appointment please contact Jim Ockert at Khaki's [email protected] 831-277-4975.
