Hello forum! This is my first post here, but based on the lurking I've done, I think I'll fit right in.

I spotted this dude awhile back, and I've been thinking about those boots ever since. Does anybody recognize them? Or know of something similar?

I think they look AWESOME, but I'm not sure if they're too much to try pulling off. I feel like I could probably do it... What does the forum think about riding boots as a thing. Can we make them a thing?

Seems like a bad idea.

Of course, anyone who has the cajones to pair up a pair of tall riding boots and a peacoat doesn't need advice.

"Captain, has the calvary boarded the ships?"

I think they would be perfect for anyone who has to walk a distance in slush and/or snow, properly treated with silicon spray for waterproofing ofcourse. These would really protect the bottom of pants from all the dirt and de-icing compounds that inevitably end up on the pant legs no matter how careful you try to walk.

I am commissioning a pair of these in black calf and they will rise to just below the knee. They will be paired with a cashmere knee length overcoat.

They are also extremely difficult to put on, unless you cheat and put a zipper in the back. Second, the color is way too light. Dress riding boots are, traditionally, black. Occasionally, someone does them up in dark brown or cordovan. If you have ever tried to keep riding boots clean, you will understand why. They also appear to have Italian tops which look kind of silly even when you're riding. For walking around, they're just bizarre. When this kind of thing works, the message is, "I have this specialized piece of clothing that just happens to work really well in another context." The message here is, "I don't know a horse from a horse's ass. But I went out and bought this really specialized and uncomfortable piece of clothing for the express purposes of impressing everyone that I own this really specialized and uncomfortable piece of clothing."

Sorry, don't think it works.

Looks like they should only be worn by women (or jockeys).

I feel like this is the only thing that could justify wearing boots like this in a horeseless context. Winter. Slush, sludge and other winter weirdness would be a GREAT environment for tall-ass boots like that. I think I'd feel impervious to the elements. Plus, nobody would think, "Hey, what is that guy doing wearing riding boots?" they would instead think, "What a brilliant sort of boot to wear while traipsing through this snowbank. I envy that man. I ENVY HIM TO MY VERY CORE."

So where do I get them?

You want tall-ass boots? Then go for it. But don't be a puss about it.

Riding boots are terrible winter boots. You will freeze. You will fall on your face as they have no traction in the snow. They will also get ruined if you traipse through snowbanks wearing them. Perhaps you should go for something like this. They really make a statement and are much cheaper than riding boots. http://www.bootsfootwear.org/detail/...ize-B003VLWHY2

I wouldn't do it either, but if you must, Dehner makes good ones.
