Hello all,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Wanted to share my experience with Resole America (RA) as I recently sent them a pair of Allen Edmonds Black Hills to be resoled. First off, I live in an area that is smaller without any good local cobblers, as I always prefer to stay local. Secondly, I bought this pair second hand and didn't feel like spending the big bucks for recrafting by AE, this is my frequent wear "beater" pair of shoes.

So, I selected the rubber dress shoe option on RA which advertises replacement with either comparable Vibram or Neolite soles, as well as recrafting of the uppers. I put in my order note I would prefer the Vibram mini lug sole.

I received my shoes back 2 days ago. The new soles were neither the Vibram nor the Neolite, but a brand called "SVIG", which I have never heard of. Additionally, the uppers were not touched in the least. I have emailed RA about my concerns with no return correspondence thus far.

I expect some will say I should have sent them to AE, however, I did not wish to incur the expense. Some may say I got what I paid for, however, that's exactly the point: I absolutely did not get what I paid for.

A couple questions: does anyone have any feedback about the soles I received made by SVIG? Has anyone had any experience with RA and how did your experience go as compared to mine? Any feedback about their customer service and fixing issues?

Thank you in advance for your replies,

jj

pics as requested. the soles look like the ones i requested, but i'm unfamiliar with the brand "svig" and have no idea how they will hold up as compared to vibram or neolites. also note the uppers, to me obviously not reconditioned, though i have the benefit of knowing what they looked like before sending them in and didnt think to take pics as i somehow expected to get what i paid for.
