Replacing bespoke suit pants

Twenty five years or so ago, in another lifetime, I had a suit made by a tailor in London, I believe his name was Ray Thorne. It is a two-piece dark blue flannel that I love, it is my favorite suit, my favorite piece of clothing. This winter the moths ate the pants. I have just heard from a reweaver that they cannot be salvaged.

Is it possible to match the fabric and have a new pair made? Do I have a chance? Is there any alternative to reweaving? I can't imagine what it would be, other than patches with some nice big comic book stitching which I'm sure we'll be seeing on the runways soon. Thorne, by the way, doesn't seem to be in the business anymore. So, am I totally effed?

Depends on how popular the cloth was or who the cloth was made by surely?

Super difficult, even with a popular cloth.

The years of wear & cleaning have probably differentiated the coat and any surviving material of the original bolt.

Can the coat work as a sport coat?

Bring the suit to a bespoke tailor and ask them to copy the pattern?

Where, exactly, on the trouser is the hole located?

Not one hole, but several up and down the legs.

You are not going to be able to replace them with a satisfactory pair. The cloth will have aged by 25 years even if you could get a piece from the same bolt which is nigh impossible to believe. Anything else will look like a mismatch - which of course it would be.

Use the jacket with jeans or alternately accept that you have lost an old friend.

Ok, I accept the loss; grief counseling starts Monday. Thanks for everyone's input.

25 years is a good run IMO. Time to find a new favorite.

Order your next suit with two trousers.

25 years is excellent life time for a suit pant, flannel wool is also one of my personal favorite as well.

P.S. you just made me to take note on how I am going to store all my winter suit, just in case...

wear the jacket with jeans. the trousers will make great shoe polishing cloths.
how often had you cleaned the suit? the dry cleaning kills moth eggs. have you checked your other suits?

Yes, I do this with "work-horse" suits. For the "occasional" suit, just one pair.
