I've just received a Zegna Couture suit from an eBay win and it fits like a glove but it's damaged. It looks like the fabric has been sliced. It's not all the way through, just the outer layer. Any suggestions on repairing or concealing this?

Find a Reweaver. If the jacket fits and you like it, it will be worth the cost of a good Reweaver.

Hi Chris. Thanks! Can you, by chance, offer a recommendation? I live in Dallas but I'll be in Albany for the next 3 weeks so somewhere in Albany, Manhattan, or anywhere in between is preferable. Or if you know of a great one in Dallas - you're often here, as I recall - I could have my wife take it there and mail it to me :)

Thanks again.

Don't know anyone in Dallas. Have used Alex Reweaving in Los Angeles and their work was fantastic. Some one else will have to chime in about Reweavers NYC.

There is also French American Reweaving in Manhattan. Have never used them but have read plenty of endorsements of their work here.

Did the seller acknowledge this damage or did you discover this when you received it?

I discovered it when I received it. I got the suit for a song, considering it's a recent make Couture, and they offered a 50% refund for the damage. Wool/silk blend, Milanese buttonholes (not just the lapel!), surgeon's cuffs already done with what looks like great work, and a fantastic fit, for $250. I'm satisfied, especially with learning about reweaving being able to make it virtually disappear.

Milanese buttonholes should only be done on the lapel.

I could NEVER recommend without a trace. Their weaving is mediocre at best and dealing with them is horrific!

I’ve had good luck with them but I’ll defer to your expertise over mine.

My experience has been echoed by other tailors I know. They had worse experiences than I did. If you compare their work with others you can see a huge difference. I have been very disappointed and have used them at least 5 times. The work and service/attitude got worse with each experience. That's when I started asking other tailors I know and got their feed back.

I’ve only used them for sweaters. Perhaps with suits it’s a different story.

I know you’re in Chicago. So am I. Care to recommend someone to me if I need something done with a suit? Feel free to PM me
