Removing pant pleats from Attolini suit

I know that pant pleats can be removed, much to my tailors chagrin because of the work, but have never had it done to something I cared if it was ruined. The pants I have had done came out reasonably well, however I am hesitant to do it to an expensive suit I could never replace.

My question is how risky is it to remove double pleats (outward) from a suit? How much does it change the cut/line of the pant and overall look of the suit? I am ready to pull the trigger on an Attolini found at discount. I love everything about the suit save the pleated pant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+1. Not a good idea. The entire pants including the rise need to be altered and essentially re-cut and sewn.

Thanks for the input. I really don't care about the expense of re-cutting the pants, its the risk of ruining a 5k suit.

Double pleats is not the worst thing in the world; I could deal with it since the Attolini is so nice. I absolutly love the jacket.

Don't do it. Recuts are risky.
Why do you object to the pleats? The pants will be slim even with the pleats.

It sounds like you really want to do it, knock yourself out and show us the results. Make sure you go to a tailor you'd trust your life with.

Anyway the last suit I wanted to buy that had pleats that I wanted to remove, the salesman told me "Dont do it"

Good luck!

Very true. Neapolitan trousers are always sleekly cut anyway. Attolini trousers are a minor work of art - don't let anyone butcher them!

Neopolitan trousers also have reversed pleats, which aren't as flattering as forward. I can understand his concern.

do u guys think it's worth the trouble to find a piece of fabric (of similar colour and texture) for a new pair of pants?

You could simply change the direction, forward pleats look a lot nicer I find. I've thought the same with some Zegna Couture I've found on sale, problem is, the taper in their legs is also ridiculous...

Is that possible to do? Sounds like it'd be an expensive undertaking.
