Removing embroidering from wool sweater, possible?

Is it possible, or has anyone tried, to remove embroidering from a wool sweater? Specifically, I'm thinking about PRL, which makes nice sweaters but butchers all but the cashmere with unsightly polo horseman embroidering on the breast. I am wondering what the wool underneath would look like if I cut out the embroidery, stitch by stitch,

Not worth the risk. I can't say for sure, but I'm fairly certain that it would leave a mark, and rather than people thinking "look at that guy wearing Ralph Lauren", they'll think "look at that guy trying to look like he isn't wearing Ralph Lauren".

With that brand, even if you buy it just for the clothing, the name comes with it.

Don't do it. If removing a patch, maybe... but embroidery? No way.
