Is this possible on a pair of Polo Darlton with a double pleat? Does that change the size or just the aesthetic? Should any alterations tailor be able to handle this?

It would be interesting to know if any tailor would attempt this.

I can tell you that removing a pleat on a pants =pattern= usually involves cutting the pattern and pivoting the pleat out. If you literally did this on a pair of pants, you'd have new seams where the pleats used to be, which is probably not what you want. There might be other alternatives, but I can't think of a simple way to do this.

Yes it can be done successfully. I have a tailor who has to take pleats out of my Zenella pants in order to get enough room to make them fit in the seat. He has also taken pleats out of Armani suits I have bought with great success.
