I received a pair of EG Barney's spectators - brown and white wingtip, kiltie with buckle. I've realised that I'm never going to wear them 'as is'. So, if I cut the kiltie off and 'colour' the white vamp piece it might be quite a nice 'monkstrap'. But would this be rather 'poor form'?

it'll definitely look like crap if you don't have it done professionally. even then, it'll probably look like crap.

Did you buy it or received it as a gift?

IF you bought it, why? Knowing that you are not going to wear it "as is".

If you did purchase the shoe, were you suffering from the Edward Green hysteria? (the shape/size/cost/color of the shoe does not matter as long as it is "Edward Green" and it is on sale)

I do not suffer from EG hysteria. I bought it because I thought I might wear it.
