Remakes: Sometimes I wonder...

Now, let's skip past the whole business rational behind remakes, sequels, reboots, etc. Financially, they're extremely sound rationally.... and in fact the closest thing to a "safe bet" as one can get in Hollywood. But every now and then I feel somewhat.... angry... at them.

I just read that they're remaking "The Warriors". This is one of my all-time favourite films, and now it's going to be to be altered to fit todays market. Sure, the ending wasn't the greatest, some of the acting is cheesy, and a new version COULD be quite good.... but really, it just annoys me.

Any other remakes or similar things pissing people off people lately?

And I leave with this:

No, I am hoping for remakes that do more justice to episodes 4-6.

Are there any remakes that are better than the original?

i thought the newer ocean's eleven was better. i also liked Herzog's Nosferatu more than the original although it's hard to compare the two. Scarface, and Little Shop of Horrors were also better than the originals. The Cape Fear remake was good too, although it's hard to compete with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum.

magnificent seven was on par with seven samurai, though i guess that wasn't really a remake.

It was a remake... but both are classics in their own right. I'm not aware of any other remake in which the original and the remake are both so good.

Actually, I just thought of one. I loved "La Den Rette Komme Inn", and though I haven't seen it, I heard the U.S. remake is pretty good. I've been meaning to check it out.
